Good evening WordCamp’ers.
First some bad news: Though we has a poll regarding possible venue locations and UCLA had won, we were unable to lock a location with out inside help for our date.
But here is the good news: Professor Michael Brodsky Head of Studio Arts – Multimedia Emphasis at LMU got in contact with us just as we were locking down our venue. And with the help of the Studio Arts – Multimedia Emphasis department, were able to hold the first WordCampLA at LMU 🙂
I was at the campus today and saw the room where track 1 will be taking place, and it’s a very nice classroom auditorium with pullout table tops (for those who plan on bringing their laptops).
I will write a post in the coming days about where to stay if your coming from out of town. We’re in contact with some hotels in the surrounding area’s that are willing to give us campers a special discount 😉
The Loyola Marymount University main campus is located in Westchester at One LMU Drive, approximately four miles north of the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
From the Los Angeles International Airport:
Travel north on Sepulveda Blvd. Remain in either of the left two lanes and merge onto Lincoln Blvd. Follow Lincoln Blvd north past Manchester Blvd. Turn right onto LMU Drive. You can get a parking pass from the guard at the front gate.
From the South:
Travel on 405 North, exit on La Tijera, make a left onto La Tijera. Take La Tijera until Manchester Boulevard and make a right (traveling west). Stay on Manchester until you reach Lincoln Boulevard and make a right. On Lincoln Boulevard, proceed for approximately 3/4 of a mile until you arrive at our main entrance on the corner of Lincoln and LMU Drive. You can get a parking pass from the guard at the front gate.
From the North:
Travel on 405 South, exit on Jefferson Blvd., and turn right. Head west and make a left onto Lincoln Blvd. Head south and turn left into the campus on LMU Drive. You can get a parking pass from the guard at the front gate.
From the East (using the 105 Freeway):
Travel on 105 West, exit on Sepulveda Blvd., and go north. Remain in either of the left two lanes and merge onto Lincoln Blvd. Follow Lincoln Blvd north past Manchester Blvd. Turn right onto LMU Drive. You can get a parking pass from the guard at the front gate.
From the East (using the 10 Freeway):
Travel on 10 West to 405 South, exit on Jefferson Blvd., and turn right. Head west and make a left onto Lincoln Blvd. Head south and turn left into the campus on LMU Drive. You can get a parking pass from the guard at the front gate.
Some further notes:
Hey WordCamper’s, we’ve got another quick poll today. This poll with last until August 2nd. We are looking into a small development day following WordCamp on Sunday the 13th in the surrounding area. While we look into a venue for this we would like to know how many people might be interested. Hopefully not to many, we would like to keep it under 50 people. Just let us know.

Hello WordCamper’s, I’ve got a quick poll for you today. We are in the final stages of locking in the venue for WordCampLA 2009. But we thought we’d like your input on the matter. So below is a poll which will end on Friday July 17th, at 11:00am. We narrowed it down to a few possible locations, and would love your input.
Don’t see a venue you think would be better? Leave a comment and will check it out!

With WordCampLA less than three month away, we’re busy finding a suitable venue, event sponsors and speakers.
Now, since WordCamp is a users conference, I thought I might ask you who you might like to see speak. As long as there in the Los Angeles area, or are willing to drive or fly out, anything goes. Just as long as they’ve got something great to talk about.
Just leave a comment with their name, website (if applicable) and contact info (if not available on website). Oh, and their location would be great too.
Due to Mothers Day, the Los Angeles WordPress users group meeting which was supposed to take place this Sunday has been moved to next weekend, the 17th of May.
Please note that this event, and any “meetup” is not the WordCamp event. But just a meetup for WordPress enthusiasts to gather and chat. As of now the WordCamp LA event is scheduled for September 12th. For more info on the meetup visit: LAWPUG
